Release Notes:
The songs on Chasing Silver reflect the tremendous changes in the
life of the extraordinary artist since his last album, Sides, two
years ago. The album goes beyond the combination of courage,
emotional eloquence and universal accessibility that made Justin a
breakthrough artist. The 13 songs on the record extend his
notoriously positive perspective and his compelling capacity for
empathy by further mastery of his craft. He collaborated with the
popular South Africa group All things Are Possible on the title
cut to the new album.
From a very early age, Hines was enthralled with music. He would spend hours upon hours listening to a his father's jukebox. He would sing in church, and to relatives...just about anywhere he went he would be carrying a tune with him. His first glimmer of success came when he was at the young age of 14. After winning a radio contest against hundreds of participants, Hines got the privilege to sing at a Toronto Raptors game.
His first album was entitled "Sides". He collaborated with producer Justin Abedin to make it. In reference to the album, Justin says “I made a conscious effort to abandon any trends, I just wanted to do something that was very honest. I wanted to just be Justin, whatever that was.” [2]
His second album 'Chasing Silver' will be released on June 2nd, 2009. It includes the hit single Say What You Will, which became instantly famous as soon as it hit airwaves.
Say What You Will became the #1 downloaded singer/songwriter track within 48 hours of releasing it online. The video was also an instant success, as it became one of the most favourited and most emailed videos on Sympatico/MSN.
